Description
Hummel, Little Gabriel. First modeled by Reinhold Unger in 1935. Hummel is called "Joyous News" in some old catalogues. This large size is found incised 32/1 or 32 only and is considered rare. Signature is on side of base. Jensen said this is only the second one he has seen. Went TW in January 1999. Hummel measures approx. 6" tall, TMK-2, Hum 32. No cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
