**First Time At Auction**
North America, Mexico, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-built pottery mask depicting an older man with yellow skin, an orange brow with several vertical striations, and red lids surrounding the ovoid eyes. Several perforations line the eyebrows while tufts of dried grass fibers line the upper peripheries, mustache, and beard. The hollow verso allows this mask to be worn. Size (w/o hair): 10.125" W x 10.75" H (25.7 cm x 27.3 cm); (w/ hair): 22" H (55.9 cm).

Condition
Minor nicks to mask and hair, with light abrasions and fading to pigment, and desiccation to grass fibers, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of pigment.
