Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A lovely textile coca cloth composed of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of crimson, cobalt, midnight blue, cream, burgundy, wheat, and jet black. The rectangular panel displays three columns of white thread that create abstract two-headed zoomorphic figures in the center and additional abstract zoomorphs along both sides. Wide columns of vivid colors surround the strange creatures, and a frilled tassel projects from each corner. Mounted on a fabric display panel. Size (textile): 16" L x 15" W (40.6 cm x 38.1 cm); size (display panel): 28" L x 25.25" W (71.1 cm x 64.1 cm).

Condition
Light fraying and loosening to some interior and peripheral fibers, with small areas of loss to interior, fading and light staining to original coloration, and some creasing. Iconography and colors are still visible and vivid.
