**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, China, Song Dynasty, ca. 960 to 1279 CE. A fine gathering of three pottery vessels of attractive forms. First is a petite bowl covered in green-beige glaze with abstract cloud-form motifs on the exterior. Second is a larger bowl covered in extremely pale blue glaze save for the rim and underside. The largest vessel is known as a mercury jar with a conical body and a petite opening on top. Mercury jars were kept in large numbers within storehouses and were used to store rice wine; despite their name, they were not used for storing mercury. Size of largest (mercury jar): 5.75" W x 8.75" H (14.6 cm x 22.2 cm)
Provenance: ex-private van Dies estate collection, Maui, Hawaii, acquired before 2000

Condition
All vessels have minor abrasions and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of glazing on bowls.
