This lot consists of an ink illustration on paper, done in the cartoon style of Jack Kirby (American, 1917-1994). This dynamic image depicts a DC comics character and features a handwritten inscription at lower right which reads, "Jack Kirby". A striking addition to any collection. Unframed piece measures approximately 11" x 8.5".

Reverse side of piece features two stamps which read, "Ernst S Raab" and "Cossio Art Gallery".

Jack Kirby (American, 1917-1994) was an acclaimed comic book artist, writer, and editor. Kirby is credited, along with Joe Simon, for the creation of Captain America. During his career, Kirby produced invaluable work for DC Comics, Harvey Comics, Hillman Periodicals, and Marvel Comics. It was at Marvel that Kirby created many major characters, including the Hulk, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.

Mike Royer (American, 1941 - ) is a comic book artist and inker (line artist, or "finisher") best known for his work with Russ Manning and Jack Kirby, both DC Comics pencillers. Royer spent 14 years with the Walt Disney Company, as well as Marvel Comics. In the 21st century, Royer has created freelance art and design for Digimon products, which include television programming, workbooks, and toy packaging. Royer is a recipient of an Inkpot Award (1978) and was the 2018 Inkwell Awards Guest of Honor.
