Description
This lot consists of a graphite illustration on paper, done in the cartoon style of Jack Kirby (American, 1917-1994). This dynamic image depicts the Marvel comics hero, Thor. Handwritten inscription at lower left corner reads, "Jack Kirby". A striking addition to any collection. This unframed piece measures approximately 13" x 8.5".
Reverse side of piece features two stamps which read, "Art on Canva Studio, 430 East Side Highway 54th Street, New York, New York", and "Archived".
Jack Kirby (American, 1917-1994) was an acclaimed comic book artist, writer, and editor. Kirby is credited, along with Joe Simon, for the creation of Captain America. During his career, Kirby produced invaluable work for DC Comics, Harvey Comics, Hillman Periodicals, and Marvel Comics. It was at Marvel that Kirby created many major characters, including the Hulk, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.
