Description
This is a wonderful old woven satchel carried by the men as a "Charm" bag, to carry their ritual objects. The bag originates from the Cordillera region in Luzon,and traditionally is known as a "buntung", with a brass coil through which a brass ring has been attached as a handle. Used by Ifugao men to keep their charms, betelnut, pipes, tobacco, and other necessities of life.Old, authentic and used item from Northern Luzon. This Tribal bag measures 15 x 9 inches ( bag and handle) and 31 inches including the long tassels. The bag was collected in situ in the mid 20th century and was part of the permanent display at the Metamora Museum of Oddities, Metamora Indiana.
