Description
A Fine Old Kina Shell necklace , a crescent-shaped cut and polished clam shells of the yellow-lipped clam. They are worn by the men in the highlands of New Guinea as ornaments for the neck or chest and even to this day used as a means of payment of a brides price. The Necklace measures 7.5 x 3 inches, not counting the woven grass cord for wearing. Provenance: The Evan Maurer collection, noted historian and author, CA, USA.
