Description
Rare and Old Northwest Coast Kwakwaka'wakw Thunderbird Mask from British Columbia, Canada circa 1900-1910.  Painted  black, white and red with an articulated beak that still opens and closes, held together with the original twine.   Tufts of Cedar bark adorn the crown of the Thunderbird's head between the carved and painted ears.   This mask shows old indiginous use from being ceremonially danced by members the Kwakwaka'wakw tribe.   See "Kwakiutl Art" by Audrey Hawthorn for similar.  Measures 26" length x 11 1/2" height x 9" width.  Rare Opportunity.
