(5 re: Penna. Governor Andrew Curtin & the Civil War) July, 1865 postwar appointment of 2nd Lieut. Joseph Dunlap of Lancaster to the 9th Reg. Cavalry, Pa. Vols., and signed in UL by Curtin as Governor. 16 1/2" x 13 1/2", engraved on paper by the London Bank Note Co., with blue paper seal affixed below the sig. Folded thrice, there is a light brown discoloration along some of the fold line, o/w VG. Recently framed. With: Campaign ribbon for Curtin, elected Gov. in 1860, and also hyping Daniel Agnew, running for Supreme Court Judge From Beaver County. 2"x7", some fading and fraying at ends. Good: 1881 ANs by Curtin, writing from Bellefonte. Signature is strong, but the letter was removed from an album, and the glue/scrap paper on verso has begun to yellow the blue writing paper.
