Fine large engraving of the drafting of the Declaration of Independence after an 1851 painting by Peter Frederick Rothermel, (Pennsylvania, 1817-1895) engraved by T. D. Booth in 1865. The image shows "the Committee of Five", Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingstone and Roger Sherman gathered around a desk strewn with books, quill pens and papers. Captioned: "Committee of Congress, Drafting the Declaration of Independence, 1776", and with the names of the Founding Fathers represented below. Excellent condition, sharp and bright. Frame, approx. 34 1/2" x 28 1/4". Sight, approx. 25" x 19 1/2".
