Description
Native American, North America, southern Wyoming, Eastern Woodland, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. A hand-carved stone hand axe with smooth surfaces, a hefty butt end, and a tapered head with an acutely angled edge on the tip. A shallow groove courses around the entirety of the midsection, hence the 'full-groove' designation, and enabled the user to efficiently and confidently grip the tool when in use. Please note that the stand is not included. Size: 5" L x 4.125" W x 2.875" H (12.7 cm x 10.5 cm x 7.3 cm)
Provenance: private Englewood, Colorado, USA collection, found in southern Wyoming in the 1950s to 1960s
