Description
Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed pendant depicting the dwarf deity Bes who stands nude with bowed legs and hands held to his hips. His compressed face features sunken eyes and perky, tab-shaped ears beneath a billowing feathered cap, and a perforated suspension loop is situated behind the head. Remains of light and dark blue glaze enrobe the petite figure in lustrous color. Size: 0.8" W x 2.1" H (2 cm x 5.3 cm); 3.1" H (7.9 cm) on included custom stand. Condition
Repaired at ankles with light adhesive along break lines. Minor pitting and softening to some finer details. Great remains of glaze pigment.
