Description
**Originally Listed At $250**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery whistle in the form of a standing warrior clad who dons a padded, crested helmet. The warrior stands nude with bent, delineated legs and holds a layered object closely to his chest with both hands. A pair of tone holes are bored into both the front and back of the hollow figure, and a cylindrical mouthpiece projects from behind the head. Traces of red-orange pigment are visible across the figure and suggest it was at one time painted with vibrant colors. Size: 2.625" W x 4" H (6.7 cm x 10.2 cm)
Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
