Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque), ca. 500 CE. A mold-formed pottery figure, perhaps a shaman, standing upon thick, fused legs. The elaborate costume features blue, orange, and pale white pigments on the grand headdress, pectoral collar, and myriad bangles. A whistle mouthpiece beneath the feet creates a high-pitched sound from the tone hole behind the head. Size: 3.8" W x 6.75" H (9.7 cm x 17.1 cm)
