Description

General orders No. 15 issued by Brigadier General Silas Casey, written by his Adjutant Lt. Carrington H. Raymond. The orders detail that regimental commanders are to designate select companies as “skirmishers,’ and that those companies are to be outfitted with Springfield rifles.
General Silas Casey is perhaps best known for the revised tactics manual he wrote for infantry units, widely used during the Civil War.
