Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation with 13 Additional General Orders

A group of fourteen total Civil War dated General Orders, 1 through 13, including the announcement of Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Measuring 4.75-5.5" x 7.25-8.5", [New York] Naval Department, dating from January 10, 1863 to April 8, 1863. With two copies of General Order No. 6. Lincoln's Proclamation was issued on January 14, 1863 with an introductory statement by Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy. Reading in part: "…I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, by virtue of the power in me vested as Commander-in-chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, in time of actual armed rebellion against the authority and government of the United States, and as a fit and necessary war measure for suppressing said rebellion, do…order and declare that all persons held as slaves within said designated States and parts of States are and henceforward shall be free; and that the Executive government of the United States, including the military and naval authorities thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of said persons…" The group has a flattened vertical centerfold, with varying degrees of toning and soiling to each. Some have corner creasing and others have a few small separations and areas of chipping. Overall very good. Included General Orders:

No. 1, January 10, 1863: Every General Order issued by the Department will be read to the officers and crew aboard every naval vessel.
No. 2, January 12, 1863: Reports of illegal punishment.
No. 3, January 13, 1863: A Court Martial held for Private William Galbraith.
No. 4, January 14, 1863: Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln.
No. 5, February 10, 1863: Lincoln desires observance of the Sabbath by the officers in the military and navy.
No. 6, February 24, 1863: An Act for the better government of the Navy.
No. 7, March 5, 1863: A Court Martial held for Acting Master B.G. Pettingill.
No. 8, March 7, 1863: Two men found intoxicated and in possession of spiritous liquors.
No. 9, April 2, 1863: To be observed in the Navy of the United States in relation to Paroles.
No. 10, April 3, 1863: Two hundred "Medals of Honor" to be prepared and bestowed upon Petty Officers.
No. 11, April 3, 1863: A list of seamen who have been specially mentioned to the Department to entitle them to the Medal of Honor.
No. 12. April 6, 1863: Prize lists will henceforth be required to include name, rank, and annual or monthly pay.
No. 13, April 8, 1863: Regulations on the use of a flag of truce.
