The partially printed document, completed in manuscript, is a military commission appointing Robert John Cunliffe Cave to be a Second Lieutenant in the Land Forces (The Royal Scots Fusiliers). Countersigned at the foot by Archibald Montgomery-Massingberd (1871-1947) British Field Marshal, Chief of the Imperial General Staff 1933-36 and Herbert Creedy (1878-1973) British Civil Servant, Permanent Under-Secretary of State for War 1920-39. With a blind embossed pale blue paper seal affixed. Some heavy creasing at the folds and some light age wear, otherwise about VG £100-150
