Description
ZEISS IKON IKOMAT FOLDING CAMERA with DOCUMENTS
Zeiss Ikon Ikomat folding camera with documents. A nice antique camera with a rare half-frame box design that uses 35mm cartridges. It is a unique piece of early photographic design, based more on 35mm cinema cameras than most still cameras. It was designed at a time when 35mm film wasn't considered practical for still photography, in the same decade that Leica made their own bid to change consumers' minds about the format. Cameras like these were highly praised by American Boy Scouts at the time, who, like European Leica users, recognized the brilliant benefits of a lightweight 35mm camera for backpacking and mountaineering. This movement would soon relegate large-format cameras to portrait studios and fashion shows. Documents and a case are included.
