The lot includes:

1. Half page typed letter signed by Cushing as "Richard Cardinal Cushing" at lower right. Written at the Cardinal's residence in Brighton, Massachusetts on November 6, 1965. On ecclesiastical stationery. Expected light paper folds, else near fine. Addressed to an autograph seeker in Wisconsin. Please note that the Postage Stamp eulogy Cushing describes in the second paragraph is not included in this lot.

2. A printed tripart pamphlet entitled "Eulogy In memory of the late John F. Kennedy President of the United States by His Eminence Richard Cardinal Cushing Archbishop of Boston on the occasion of A Requiem Mass celebrated Sunday, November 24, 1963…" signed by Cushing as "Richard Cardinal Cushing" along the bottom. The 5pp pamphlet reads in part: "May his noble soul rest in peace and may his memory be perpetuated in our hearts as a symbol of love for God, country and all mankind, the foundation upon which a new world must be built if our civilization is to survive…" (p. 5). Richard Cushing served as the Archbishop of Boston between 1944-1970, and was appointed a Cardinal after 1958. A Kennedy family friend who baptized many of the Kennedy children, he officiated at John and Jackie's 1953 wedding, read an invocation at the 1961 inauguration, and later conducted numerous televised funeral masses for the slain president in Washington, D.C. and Boston (including the one to which this signed eulogy corresponds.)
