Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Alaska, Inuit, ca. early 20th century CE. A lovely figurative doll , hand-carved from finely-grained red cedar. The figure stands atop attenuated, delineated legs, wears a lengthy shirt with a flared lower fringe, and holds slender arms against the sides. The elongated ovoid head bears impressed rectangular eyes, a bulbous nose, a rounded chin, and a slanted slit-form mouth, all beneath a rounded coiffure. A finely preserved example of Inuit artistry! Size: 4" W x 10.4" H (10.2 cm x 26.4 cm).

Condition
Small chips and losses to back of head, arms, and lower body, with softening to some finer details, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Nice earthen deposits and great patina throughout.
