**Originally Listed At $200**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to early 4th century CE. A great sprinkler flask formed from semi-translucent glass of a seafoam-green hue. The vessel presents with a concave base and a rough pontil scar, a spherical body with a tapered shoulder, a constricted neck line, and a squat neck with a wide, flared rim. The body boasts a dense honeycomb-style pattern - created via a patterned mold while the artisan was composing the overall shape - that imbues the vessel with a personalized presentation. Sprinkler flasks were intended to store precious scented oils without rapidly evaporating, and the constricted neck enabled the conservative dispensing of its contents. Size: 1.8" W x 2.75" H (4.6 cm x 7 cm).

#139603
Condition
Minor nicks to rim and base, with light encrustations, micro-bubbling within glass matrix, and minor weathering film, otherwise intact and very good. Pontil mark on underside of base. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time. Nice earthen deposits as well as great rainbow iridescence throughout.
