Description
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A stunning sprinkler flask presenting a globular body adorned with a fine net-pattern, this beautiful design covering the lower spherical body, an elongated neck with wide everted rim and inward-folded lip, with a mesmerizing surface boasting liberal areas of golden and rainbow iridescence as well as expected weathering commensurate with age. A very popular type of vessel in this period, the sprinkler flask is characterized by a very small opening designed to dispense small amounts of liquid virtually drop by drop via the constriction ring in its neck. Size: 2.375" W at widest x 3.875" H (6 cm x 9.8 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Amazing rainbow and golden iridescence. There are separations in the iridescence but not in the underlying glass. Broken pontil on the base.
