Description
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. An elegant, hand-blown ancient glass double unguent of translucent spring green hues with areas of internal rainbow and silver iridescence. This vessel is quite rare as it has not 2 but rather 4 sinuous trailed handles, a pair cascading down each side of the piece, and threadlike rigaree winding around each neck. A wonderful example, most likely owned by a wealthy women of ancient Roman times who would have used it to contain precious oils, perfumes, or cosmetics for her toilette routine. Custom lucite stand. Size: 1.25" L x 1.5" W x 3.625" H (3.2 cm x 3.8 cm x 9.2 cm)

Losses to rigaree, though much remains. Tiny loss to upper end of one trail handle. A few stable fissures. Earthen encrustation. Nice areas of internal rainbow and silvery iridescence.
