[REVOLUTIONARY WAR.] Account of Commissary William Little, 1779-1781. 1 p., 8.25" x 13". Edge tears and wrinkles.

This interesting leaf provides an accounting of 31 months of the service of William Little, an Issuing Commissary of Supplies and Refreshments for Connecticut soldiers in the Continental Army. It records when he issued clothing and supplies to various Connecticut officers, including Colonel Philip B. Bradley (1738-1821) of the 5th Connecticut regiment, Colonel Josiah Starr (1740-1813) of the 1st Connecticut regiment, Captain William Judd (1743-1804) of Colonel Willis's regiment, and 1st Lieutenant Henry Daggett (1738-1843), several of whom were, like Little, graduates of Yale. It also includes credits against Little's account for clothing, rations, and wages Little received while in the office.

William Little (1749-1831) was born in Connecticut, and graduated from Yale College in 1777. In May, before his graduation, the Governor and Council appointed him as Issuing Commissary of Supplies and Refreshments for the Connecticut troops in the Continental service. Little later settled in Boston as a merchant and received an ad eundem Master's degree from Harvard University in 1786.
