Description
A group of embroideries and fans dating from the late Qing dynasty. Included in the group are: an embroidered purse featuring forbidden stitch flowers and a butterfly on 1 side, 2 carved wood fan with pierced wood slats connected with a blue ribbon, a black ground silk embroidered fan cover with metallic and green thread couch stitched with fruit, flowers, and a bat.
Dimensions are: the larger embroidered fan cover measures 12 1/4 inches tall X 1 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The purse is in good condition, the fans have multiple breaks in the ribbons and a few chips, areas of wear and multiple loose threads in the fan cover.
Provenance: From the family collection of William J. Latta, noted collector of Napoleon memorabilia and/or his son-in-law Harry Franck, a well known travel writer, by descent.
