Description
A 19th century Scottish hand-colored engraving on paper titled "Protest Against the British Government". This work features a speech by Robert Emmet. Above the speech is a profile view portrait of Emmet. Framing the speech is a pair of female angels that extend from an ornate plateau, which reads "Liberty" on the front within a heart. This work is presented in a giltwood frame with a wire on the verso for hanging. Additionally, there is a chromolithograph of a young woman on the verso. She is wearing a flower crown and carrying a bundle of wheat. Condition: Minor wear consistent with age and history. Dimensions: 39.5"H x 32"W x 1"D (for frame); 29"H x 22"W (for visible image)
