Description
Circa 1840, Edgefield, South Carolina attributed to Pottersville or Stoney Bluff. The jar having slave made form and is possibly by Dave. Having a single ring rim above high tab handles on an ovoid body. The glaze is a rich green tone alkaline. A 1" chip to one handle and a 1/4" chip to the other handle. Some slight glaze pitting as made. Otherwise good condition. H13Ó Note: Several of the shards discovered at the Pottersville site during the University of Illinois archaeological excavation had similar colors and form to this piece. Sold from the collection of a Charleston gentleman.
