Important treatise on the flowering plant genus, of which the barks of several species yield quinine and other alkaloids that were long the only effective treatments against malaria. Noted British botanist Aylmer Bourke Lambert was one of the first fellows of the Linnean Society, whose most famous work was "A description of the genus Pinus", issued in several parts 1803-1824, a sumptuously illustrated folio volume detailing all of the conifers then known.
Condition
Wear to spine and extremities, ink blot to rear board; offset to endpapers, hinges cracked or tender, a few leaves detached; very good, in rare original state, untrimmed in the original paper boards.
