Isaac Watts was an 18th-century English minister certainly best known for his extensive portfolio of hymnody. However, in addition to his hymns, he wrote a textbook on logic in 1724 entitled simply ‘Logic’. In this treatise, Watts sought to teach various elements such as perception, judgement, reasoning, and method and effectively uses references to John Locke’s ‘Essay Concerning Human Understanding’. Watts’ ‘Logic’ became a standard text for philosophy students and is still relevant today.
This 1792 edition was the first edition published by Binns in Leeds.
