Description
1764 1st ed ALGEBRA English Mathematics Geometry Illustrated Emerson
William Emerson was an 18th-century English mathematician known for his treatises on geography and navigation and math textbooks. While his books were quite popular, even during his lifetime, one in particular was quite notable for its content. ‘A Treatise of Algebra’ was one of his various mathematics works. This work was intended for young learners and school-age mathematicians; however, according to the DNB, it was“found too advanced for their alleged purpose, the explanations and demonstrations being far too concise to be readily understood by the young.”
This 1764 first edition is an impressive example of this work. It features all 13 folding plates, each of which depict algebraic and geometric problems and studies.
