Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure with a broad head presenting impressed eyes, a conical nose, a petite mouth, and ears bedecked with small ear spools. Nude, she stands upon delineated legs with emphasized genitalia in-between, and attenuated arms flank either side of an elaborate necklace. Her head is capped with an elaborate headdress with projecting feathers, and the entire figure is enveloped in a smooth cream-hued slip. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 1.625" W x 5" H (4.1 cm x 12.7 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

Condition
Minor nicks to body and head, with fading to slip pigmentation, and softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits as well as nice manganese blooms throughout.
