Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic Period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A fabulous hand-built pottery female "pretty lady" figure depicted pregnant and standing as her petite breasts and bulging belly protrude above straight legs. Wearing a lengthy dress and a thick collar necklace, she carries a bowl in her right arm and gazes outward from sizeable eyes. Her ancient visage is comprised of a projecting, pointed nose and an open mouth, all flanked by a pair of huge earspools and crowned by a slender headband. Size: 2" W x 4.5" H (5.1 cm x 11.4 cm)
