Wanne eines Sarkophags
Ägypten, Spätzeit, 26. Dynastie, um 664-525 v. Chr.
Mit Sockel / with base
Holz, Stuck. H 180 cm
Provenienz:
- Galerie Cybele, Paris.
- Sammlung J.V. (1970), danach durch Vererbung im Familienbesitz verblieben.
Die Wanne gehörte zu einem anthropoiden (menschenförmigen) Sarg, wobei der Körper des Dargestellten ungegliedert, d. h. mumienförmig wiedergegeben ist. Er bestand aus einer Wanne und einem Deckel. Beide Teile wurden aus mehreren Brettern zusammengesetzt, mit Holznägeln verdübelt, stuckiert und polychrom bemalt. Auf der Rückseite ist ein Djedpfeiler als Symbol des auferstandenen Totengottes Osiris rundplastisch herausgearbeitet. Auf der Innenseite Reste der Stuckierung.

The box is part of an anthropomorphic sarcophagus representing the body of the deceased as a mummy. The sarcophagus consisted of box and lid. Both parts were assembled from several pieces of wood, joined with wooden dowels, stuccoed and painted. On the back, a Djed-post as symbol of the risen god of death, Osiris, worked in the round. On the inside, traces of stucco.
