Description
Victoria of England Queen
Victoria "the Queen" 3rd Person Letter
2pp autograph letter inscribed overall in the hand of Victoria I, Queen of England (1819-1901), in which she refers to herself in the third person as "the Queen." On watermarked pale blue stationery paper with a .375" black mourning band, embossed "Balmoral" at top. Inscribed in bold blue pencil. With expected paper folds, else near fine. 4.5" x 6.875".
Queen Victoria writes about Mr. Collins's commission, and asks to see him "either Tuesday or Wednesday." Mr. Collins could have referred to Arthur Collins (1845-1911), a British turn-of-the-century courtier. Collins served as Gentleman Usher in the royal households of Victoria I and Edward VII, and he also acted as the Equerry and Comptroller of Victoria's fourth daughter, Princess Louise.
