Description
**First Time At Auction**

Magna Graecia, Southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 4th century BCE. An ensemble of four hand-built Apulian pottery vessels. First is a squat blackware kylix with a stepped foot, a wide body, and a thin rim. Second is a petite blackware pitcher with a footed base, a piriform body, a wide-flared rim, and an applied loop handle joining body to neck. Third is a small blackware lekanis with a pedestaled base, a shallow interior cavity and raised rim, and an accompanying lid with a flat top, disc-shaped handle, and orange palmette and Lady of Fashion motifs. Lastly, is a spherical jarlet with a buffware surface, a minute circular base, an orb-shaped body, a short spout, and a flat tab-shaped handle. A wonderful collection of ancient Apulian artifacts! Size of largest (lekanis): 3.375" H (8.6 cm).

Condition
Kylix has small chips to foot and rim, and both handles missing. Pitcher repaired from multiple pieces with some restoration along break lines and small chips throughout. Lekanis and lid repaired from multiple pieces with small losses along break lines, fading to surface coloration, and chips throughout. Jarlet repaired from multiple pieces with some small areas of restoration. All items have age-commensurate surface wear and roughness, with earthen and mineral deposits throughout.
