Description
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, early Byzantine Empire, ca. 6th to 9th century CE. A pair of cast-iron crucifixes. The smaller cross has slender arms, three perforated rings on the top and lateral arms, and a large ring on the bottom. The larger cross has flattened arms and a conical hafting slot so it can be mounted atop a small pole. Size of largest (flat arms): 4" W x 6.5" H (10.2 cm x 16.5 cm).

Condition
Smaller cross has top and bottom arms reattached to lateral arms. Larger cross has one lateral arm reattached. Both items have minor nicks to arms and bases, with slight bending to overall forms, and extensive oxidation. Light earthen deposits throughout.
