Ancient Byzantine Large Iron Processional Cross c.500 - 800 A.D. Size 21 3/4 inches high, 11 1/4 inches wide. Large sized iron cross having flared and tailed terminals, hollow socket base and remnants of silver appliques including a fragmented silver roundel boss at the center. A small silver node beneath, and two nodes and a drop shaped applique on one arm. Other overlay appliques are gone. Minor loss at base, chips and rust patina, but well preserved for iron.
