Early Edo Period Japanese Matchlock Musket.
Unserialized, .52 caliber, 40-inch octagonal and round barrel with triangular blade front sight and fixed grooved-block rear sight. Brass lock, hammer and trigger. Smooth hardwood stock with floral fittings scattered throughout. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 6195 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, scratches and dings to wood. Action good. Dark bore.
