Description
Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A lovely hammered bronze mirror of a circular form with an openwork border comprised of circular perforations and incised concentric circles adorning one side. While the mirror has a silvered appearance on the obverse face, its strong reflective surface is actually from a finely-polished layer of lead. Thick areas of green and russet patina encrustations mark the surface and provide a splash of color. Size: 3.2" Diameter (8.1 cm).
