Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 BCE to 400 CE; North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 800 to 1400 CE; Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1300 CE. A lovely gathering of three textile fragments from three prominent cultures of ancient Peru. First is a tri-color Nazca pouch comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama) fibers, in hues of black, russet, and gold, displaying a series of linear and spiral patterns. Second is a Chimu sash section made from tightly-woven camelid fibers, in hues of turquoise, brown, yellow, umber, green, and red, depicting a repeating design of abstract avian figures and eight-pointed stars. Last is a Chancay panel constructed from tightly-woven natural fibers, in hues of brown, beige, navy, orange, and red, exhibiting dozens of thin rectangular panels with abstract geometric motifs throughout. A fabulous collection! Nazca and Chancay panels mounted on fabric backings. Size of largest (Nazca): 16.75" L x 13" W (42.5 cm x 33 cm).

All textiles are fragments of larger items. All items have age-commensurate surface wear, fraying and loosening to interior and peripheral fibers, with some fading and discoloration, otherwise very good.
