Per-Columbian, Peru, Chancay & Huari (Wari) cultures, ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A group of four lovely textile fragments, comprised of tightly-woven strands of wool and cotton fibers, in hues of red, fuchsia, periwinkle, gold, wheat, green, white, and black. The first textile strip has primarily fuchsia, gold, and black hues in a number of abstract geometric forms. The second fragment has two red border panels enclosing an abstract polychrome figure with disc-shaped eyes, elongated ears, and a square body. The third fragment also has two red border panels, but depicts three abstract zoomorphic figures with large eyes, tall ears, and circular mouths. The last and largest piece has one wheat-hued border, a red body, and a central strip of abstruse animals in hues of black, gold, blue, and green. Size of largest: 21.25" L (54 cm).
