Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu & Chancay, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A fine collection of 3 textile fragments from ancient Peruvian cultures, woven from cotton and camelid (alpaca or llama) fibers. The longest is a tight tabby / plain weave panel featuring anthropomorphic and symbol beings painted in vibrant colors of a repeating pattern that alternates between squares containing a stylized faces and stepped motifs. The next is a framed white cotton ground with a loose weave and camelid brocade fibers creating abstract bird motifs. Last is a famed poncho or tunic fragment with deep red, blue-black, and tan-yellow stepped bands. Size (largest textile): 11" L x 8.5" W (27.9 cm x 21.6 cm); (largest frame): 14.3" L x 11.3" W (36.3 cm x 28.7 cm)

Condition
All are fragments of larger pieces as shown. Two come in frames, and one is mounted on cardstock with plastic slipcover. Tearing and bending to cardstock. Fraying and active shedding to fibers, and we recommend framing to preserve textile.
