Description
Elvis Presley's Cockpit Phone Removed From 1962 Lockheed Jet W/Letter of Provenance From Airplane Mechanic, Elvis Fan Club & Other - This phone was removed at Elvis' request from the cockpit of his 1962 Lockheed jet. The phone is marked "Pentex type A_25" and was removed from the cockpit and replaced with a new phone in the early 1970s. The phone will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from the mechanic who removed the phone, who re-wired and replaced many items on Elvis' jet. According to the letter, Elvis "hated this phone as it never worked right from the air." The mechanic removed the phone while working on Elvis' jet at the Meecham Field in Azle, TX, where he was employed for 16 years. The phone will also be accompanied by a second letter from the collector who obtained it from the mechanic, along with a certificate from the Elvis in Concert Fan Club. GWS Auctions sold the Lockheed jet in 2017 for just under $500,000.
