Description
**First Time At Auction**
Magna Graecia, northern territories, Ionia, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery kylix of a wide form with a flared, concave foot, a wide, shallow basin, a thin rim, and a pair of applied loop handles, all decorated in a characteristic bi-chrome finish. The top of the foot, underside of the basin, handles, and interior basin are all covered in a lustrous glaze which has developed a layer of faint silvery iridescence. The rim of the bowl is slightly wavy and uneven, brought about perhaps during the firing process, and the interior basin displays an incised six-pointed star. Size: 6.5" W x 2.625" H (16.5 cm x 6.7 cm).

Condition
One handle reattached with some restoration around terminal bases. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks to rim, handles, body, and base, with fading to some areas of glaze coloration, and light roughness across most surfaces. Nice earthen deposits and light encrustations throughout.
