Description
Ancient Greek colonies of Asia Minor, Ionia, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A beautiful example of a deep kylix - a cup for drinking - with twin horizontal loop handles emerging form a rounded body, all upon a small, pronounced concave foot. The exterior is decorated with a single red band at the upper end of the cup that continues to the handles which also feature black pigment at their ends; the rest of the body is black over red with wonderful brush marks demonstrating the artist's hand continuing down the body and covering the foot. Size: 6.75" handle span x 3.875" H (17.1 cm x 9.8 cm)
