Philip II had a son who was named Arrhidaeus at birth and later became Philip III when he became king. Philip II was also the father of Alexander the Great. Upon the death of Alexander, his elder half brother Philip III assumed his reign in 323 BCE up until the time of his death. Coins of Philip III closely resemble those of Alexander the Great, with the major difference being that Philip III coins of course bear his own name "PHILIP" in Greek.

Provenance: private Cary, Illinois, USA collection; ex-private Healy collection, Studio City, California, USA, acquired over the last twenty years
