Civil War M1850 Infantry officer's sword. Brass floral decorated pommel cap, reverse "D" knuckle-bow and pierced floral work guard. Braided wire wrapped sharkskin grip. 33" slightly curved blade engraved with military and floral motifs. Marked "W. H. HORSTMANN & SONS PHILADELPHIA". Stamped with a king's head logo (German made). Spine marked "IRON PROOF". Blade has pitting dark areas and is gray. Blued steel scabbard, with a brass throat, center band and tip. One dent.
