Europe, Venice (modern day Italy), found in western Africa, ca. 1900 CE. A long strand of 38 large glass chevron beads of cobalt blue, red, and white hues. Chevron beads were first created by glass bead makers of Venice and Murano, Italy at the end of the 14th century CE. These drawn beads were traditionally made from glass canes, that were shaped using specifically constructed star moulds to create their characteristic patterns. Beads like these were used by European traders to purchase goods in Africa. Attractive and wearable. Size: 32" L (81.3 cm); longest bead measures 1.25" L x .625" W (3.2 cm x 1.6 cm)
