Europe, Venice (modern day Italy), found in western Africa, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A group of dozens of deep blue, slightly translucent glass trade beads, most rounded, with approximately twelve disc-shaped, and five cuboid shaped. The color is a rich cobalt. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. These beads were used in Africa. All are displayed together on a modern string. Length of strand: 29" L (73.7 cm)
